Abstract:
Several recent sensor platforms combine several radio technologies. We will demonstrate a generic solution for integrating different radio technologies in the same Wireless Sensor Network, by using the IPv6 routing protocol for Low-Power and Lossy networks (RPL). The modifications to the RPL routing protocol such that it automatically selects the most suitable radio link will be explained. In particular, the combination of long/medium-range communications and short-range duty-cycled communications will be demonstrated.
