Visible Light Communication as an Enabling Technology for Indoor Localization

Speaker: Nobby Stevens

Company/ Institute: KU Leuven

Event: 20th work meeting

Date: 8 December 2015

Abstract:

With the increased usage of LED for illumination purposes, a new way of communication is on the horizon: Visible Light Communication. The idea is that by modulating the light stream at a frequency above the flicker fusion threshold of the human eye, we are able to sent information, on top of the illumination function of the LED. But what are the challenges, opportunities and what is the added value of this technology with regard to the ubiquitous RF-based communication networks? Nobby Stevens from the research group DraMCo of the KU Leuven will try to answer these questions in this talk.
