Event: 10th work meeting

Date: 31 May 2012

Abstract:

Magnetic Induction radio, which is based on near-field magnetic coupling, forms an ideal solution for ultra-low power Body Area Networks (BAN) due to its low power consumption, worldwide availability and low body absorption.

In this presentation, we take a closer look at the underlying physical mechanisms and some of the unique features of MI radio. NXP’s proprietary MI Radio product, named NxH2180, is targeted to various application markets which are described during the talk. Additionally, it is shown that this existing MI radio can be easily combined with wireless charging.
Finally, 2 setups highlighting the NxH2180’s capabilities are demonstrated
