8th work meeting – The Wireless Paradox

imec, 18 October 2011

The Wireless Community members will organise their eighth work meeting on Tuesday October 18, 12h45-19h30 at imec, Leuven.

The topic will be “The wireless paradox : energy efficient radiation”, and the workshop will be co-organised with the Belgian chapter of FITCE, an international association that is committed to affecting telecommunication developments throughout Europe and the rest of the world.

Wireless communication has been widely adopted, despite the growing public concerns about the impact on human health of exposure to electromagnetic radiation. Engineers can contribute to the solution by designing innovative solutions that reduce the radiation to levels as-low-as-technologically-achievable (ALATA principle).
In this workshop, researchers will present the latest innovations towards energy efficient radiation, including eco-antennas, green radios, and smart networking solutions. We will discuss the rules and regulations for EM radiation. Telecom operators will be asked to present their view.
Imec will be host for this workshop. You will get a snapshot of imec’s newest R&D activities. Imec is dedicated to foster technology innovation in Flanders. This will be illustrated by several examples of successful collaborations. An optional guided tour to the clean room facilities will be provided.
