Needs and constraints for wireless sensors in the steel industry

Event: 10th work meeting

Date: 31 May 2012

Abstract:

The sensors developed for the steel industry are more and more widespread and diverse. They integrate also more and more intelligent electronics requesting power supply and constant communication with central processor unit. All the needed cables are quite bulky and not always easy to put in place, inducing safety problems for the sensors but also for the personnel during installation.
Currently, CRM is considering the possibilities to use and adapt wireless systems to the very harsh environment prevailing in steel plants.
The needs and constraints for some dedicated applications will be explained during this presentation.
