MicroPnP: Plug-and-Play Peripherals for the Internet-of-Things with Low Power Connectivity

Speaker: Fan Yang, Christophe Huygens, Sam Michiels and Danny Hughes

Company/ Institute: iMinds-DistriNet/KU Leuven

Event: 21st work meeting

Date: 27 April 2016

Abstract:

This demonstration showcases MicroPnP, a complete hardware and software stack  for building zero-configuration plug-and-play IoT applications. MicroPnP is the first IoT platform to support true plug and play integration of embedded sensors and actuators, while maintaining a 10 year battery life. The live demonstration shows two low-power network technologies: LoRa provides low-power, long range communication, while SmartMesh-IP provides an ultra reliable and extensible mesh network based on IEEE-802.15.4.
