Abstract:

In this presentation, we aim to introduce the concept of the wirelessly interconnected distributed access point, to which any terminal can directly connect via a low energy / low radiation single hop wireless link. This innovative concept aims to realize one virtual (logical) access point, while physically supporting distributed access points. While today multiple indoor access points are wirelessly interconnected and cooperation between the access points is limited to frequency planning and seamless mobility, we will show that the concept of the distributed virtual access point is in addition must more user friendly (in terms of deployment) and eco-friendly (in terms of energy efficiency and human exposure to electromagnetic radiation).
